Libertadores: em derrota diante do The Strongest, o Fluminense poupou todos seus jogadores de linha pela primeira vez em competições continentais
O Time de Guerreiros foi à Bolívia, na noite desta quinta-feira (25), visitar o The Strongest, pela quarta rodada da fase de grupos da Libertadores e não conseguiu dar fim a invencibilidade de dois anos da equipe boliviana jogando em casa pela competição.
A equipe carioca iniciou a partida com apenas um titular em campo, o goleiro Fábio. Além de abdicar de seus jogadores de linha titulares, o Fluminense também apostou nos lançamentos, fugindo da sua principal característica que é o toque de bola. A estratégia adotada pelo tricolor carioca não foi eficiente para superar o Strongest, que além da vitória foi responsável por todas as jogadas perigosas da partida.
Segundo o levantamento feito pela “Flupedia“, essa foi a primeira vez que o tricolor poupa todos os seus jogadores de linha em 138 jogos válidos por competições internacionais.

Em 2022, o técnico Fernando Diniz poupou sete atletas em duelo contra o Oriente Petrolero, também da Bolívia: David Braz, André, Yago, Wellington, Nathan, Ganso e Luiz Henrique. Na oportunidade o tricolor aplicou uma goleada de 10×1, mas foi eliminado da Copa Sul-Americana.
Pela competição, o tricolor das Laranjeiras volta a campo no dia 07/06, quando vai à Argentina enfrentar o River Plate. Nesse intervalo de tempo, a equipe carioca enfrenta o Corinthians (28/05), pelo Campeonato Brasileiro e o Flamengo (01/06) pelas oitavas de final da Copa do Brasil.
