No sábado, após entrar no jogo no clássico contra o Vasco, Wellington Silva completou a marca de 100 jogos com a camisa tricolor. O atacante, que não havia sido escalado, entrou no lugar de Marcos Paulo quando o relógio marcava 19 minutos do segundo tempo. Comemorando o dia em grande estilo, Wellington iniciou a jogada que culminou no gol de Fred, o segundo do Fluminense.
Revelado em Xerém, o jogador foi promovido ao profissional em 2010, ano do tricampeonato, e estreou na Copa do Brasil, na partida contra o Confiança. Considerado como uma das grandes revelações da época, foi vendido ainda na base para o Arsenal, na Inglaterra, e depois alguns anos voltou para o clube, em 2016. Em 2018, Wellington Silva foi para o Internacional por empréstimo e retornou à Laranjeiras no início de 2020 como pedido de Odair. Até aqui, foram 100 jogos, 13 gols e três títulos conquistados.
