Roger, sobre classificação na Copa do Brasil: ‘Penso que nós atuamos bem’

Após a vitória por 3 a 0 sobre o Criciúma, mesmo com a vaga nas quartas de final da Copa do Brasil, o treinador Roger Machado foi questionado sobre o nível técnico apresentado pela equipe e defendeu os jogadores, afirmando que o adversário, da terceira divisão do Campeonato Brasileiro e da segunda do Catarinense, impôs um jogo duro e valorizou a classificação do Tricolor.

“O resultado talvez não traduza a dificuldade que o jogo foi na verdade. Foi um placar de 3 a 0 que nos deu a margem para se classificar, mas o Criciúma valorizou muito a nossa classificação porque fez um jogo duríssimo. Provou que mesmo estando duas divisões abaixo, pôde fazer frente a um time da primeira divisão.
Tivemos dificuldade na saída. Você precisa ter um campo em boas condições para você sair lá de trás tocando. Nós não temos jogadores que tenham a destreza de sair driblando lá de trás, então a gente saia aos toques ou com a condução do Martinelli que consegue fazer isso bem. Quando não se tem um gramado em condições e sobretudo a forma que o Criciúma marca de uma forma encaixada, preferimos buscar brigar pela segunda bola e construir a partir dali.
Penso que convencemos com o resultado. Não vejo que você vai dominar um adversário o tempo inteiro. Mesmo estando duas divisões abaixo. Foi um jogo de características distintas. Maracanã ficou fechado 50 dias para a Copa América e o gramado está horrível. As dificuldades vão aparecer. O que eu gostaria de falar para o torcedor é que quando a gente tiver a oportunidade de atuar bem tecnicamente e não dar nenhuma chance pro adversário, vamos buscar fazer. Não temos um super time, temos um time competitivo. Não vamos fazer um futebol brilhante, como se imagina que o torcedor mereça ver. Esse grupo se caracterizou por não desistir nunca. O que eu diria é isso, acreditar que é possível sempre, mesmo que em algum momento eles se sintam menos representados dentro de campo. Esse time vai sempre competir até o final.”
Psicológico dos jogadores após manifestações
“Por maior que sejam os problemas, a gente sempre busca tentar manter a tranquilidade e a estabilidade que a gente tem na parte interna. Buscar trabalhar diariamente, para que nossas emoções não estejam ligadas diretamente ao que acontece no ambiente externo, nem tão pouco as decisões que eu preciso tomar em relação ao time, a escalação, estratégia e etc. Não perder o foco do que era mais importante, por mais que as manifestações mostre uma insatisfação por parte da torcida, o que a gente trata internamente é sempre manter essa tranquilidade, analisando com uma ótica mais positiva e realista do que acontecia.
A impressão que dá, sobretudo, após as manifestações é que a decisão já estava decidida a favor do Criciúma, e a gente sabia que era bem possível revertê-la e conseguimos.”
Jogadores questionados
“Eu penso que nós atuamos bem. Talvez o resultado não traduza a dificuldade que o adversário nos impôs, mas penso que nós atuamos muito bem. Isso gera confiança nos atletas jovens e nos mais rodados, quando você decidir a partida a favor, depois de três resultados de derrota.
Os jogadores questionados a gente coloca mais perto, fala ao pé do ouvido, tranquiliza e passa confiança. Eu entendo as opiniões externas, as preferências externas, relacionadas àqueles que devam estar em campo. Mas a gente analisa com mais profundidade. Que bom que esses que foram questionados puderam responder. Isso tudo eleva a moral do grupo e desses jogadores especificamente, para essa sequência que, no final de julho até agosto, será de 40 dias extremamente decisivos para gente que vão decidir nosso futuro, dali em diante é só pedreira.”
Expulsão de Manoel:
“O árbitro não percebeu que ele tinha sinalizado com cartão amarelo o Manoel e quando ele tirou o cartão do bolso, ele não pode colocar novamente pra guardar. Acho que foi um excesso e que ele pudesse ter evitado, para mim não era compatível de expulsão”

“É um jogador que já esteve no meu radar em outros momentos, mas sempre foi difícil conseguir essa aproximação. É um grande acréscimo de qualidade que conseguimos. Primeiro, segundo e ate terceiro homem de meio. Conduz muito bem a bola e tem capacidades defensivas. Podendo ser utilizado numa trinca de meio, até como meia. Estamos bem felizes de contar com ele.”
Jogar bem, não. Mas jogou para merecer o resultado e consequentemente passar para a próxima fase da Copa do Brasil.
