Há exatos dois anos, no dia 30 de Novembro, o volante Martinelli estreava entre os profissionais no Fluminense. Integrante da chamada “Geração de Ouro” do Sub-17 ao lado de nomes como Marcelo Pitaluga, André, Calegari, João Pedro, Luiz Henrique e Marcos Paulo, o camisa 38 foi um dos exemplos do trabalho de transição feito pelo Sub-23. Desde então, vem alternando entre o time titular e o banco de reservas, terminando 2022 jogando com Fernando Diniz.
Martinelli fez a sua estreia no empate em 0 a 0 do Fluminense com o RB Bragantino pelo Brasileirão, no Maracanã. Atuando mais recuado e com personalidade, o volante — revelado no Grêmio Prudente, mas que chegou ao Tricolor ainda nas divisões de base — chamou a atenção do então técnico do Flu, Odair Hellmann.
Logo em seu primeiro ano, o camisa 38 realizou 13 partidas, sendo 11 como titular, e com três gols marcados. Na temporada seguinte, começou como titular. Entretanto, acabou perdendo a posição para André, que terminou eleito revelação do Campeonato Brasileiro 2021.

Já em 2022 — ainda com Abel Braga como treinador — começou o ano com status de 12° jogador. Entrando em jogos importantes como, por exemplo, os da pré-Libertadores e às finais do Campeonato Carioca contra o Flamengo. Também ficou marcado por dar o passe para o último gol da carreira de Fred na goleada sobre o Corinthians. O volante ainda voltou a ganhar a condição de titular com Fernando Diniz na reta final, disputando as 13 últimas partidas do Tricolor no ano.
Martinelli foi um dos primeiros frutos do Sub-23 do Fluminense
Em 2020, o Flu também estreava o time Sub-23. Idealizado pelo executivo de futebol Paulo Angioni, o novo projeto substituiu o “plano carreira“. Enquanto o antigo visava realocar os atletas formados em Xerém em outras equipes do Brasil e do mundo, a nova equipe busca aumentar o tempo de maturação dos jovens jogadores dentro do próprio clube.
Quando estreou pelo Fluminense, Martinelli já havia disputado a Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior e algumas partidas do Brasileirão de Aspirantes. Além disso, como o próprio destacou, já vinha realizando treinos com o elenco profissional.
“Acho que fiz uma boa estreia. Natural que, com o tempo, eu tenha evolução em diferentes aspectos. A partida profissional tem suas diferenças com a base. Eu, apesar de atuar nos aspirantes e no sub-20, já treino nos profissionais desde junho. Então a cada dia é um aprendizado”, disse Martinelli em sua primeira coletiva de imprensa.
Se dentro de campo, a equipe ainda não conquistou o único título que disputa — caiu duas vezes nas semifinais e uma vez ainda na primeira fase —, o projeto tem rendido frutos para o time profissional. Pelo Sub-23 passaram, por exemplo, André, Alexsander, Gabriel Capixaba, Gabriel Teixeira, Alexandre Jesus, Luiz Henrique e Samuel ‘Granada’ que — assim como Martinelli — já estrearam pelo time principal.
