O Fluminense venceu o Santos por 1 a 0 no Maracanã e voltou momentaneamente ao G4 do Brasileirão. Com gol de Germán Cano, o tricolor superou a equipe paulista com direito a pênalti perdido por Leo Fernández ainda na primeira etapa. Mesmo não tendo uma atuação de gala, o time de Fernando Diniz dominou a partida e saiu com a vitória.
Primeiro Tempo:
A partida começou um pouco morna e sem grandes chances. Mesmo tendo mais posse, o Fluminense não conseguia furar o bloqueio da zaga santista. Aos 27 minutos, John Arias é derrubado na área e o arbitro marcou pênalti, Leo Fernández foi para a cobrança mas parou em João Paulo. No contra-ataque, Jean Lucas partiu em velocidade e finalizou com perigo para o goleiro Fábio.
O tricolor seguiu tendo o controle da partida, mas criar chances de grande perigo. Aos 45 minutos, Martinelli domina na área mas finaliza por cima do gol. Dois minutos depois, o volante teve outra oportunidade mas finalizou sem tanta força, na mão de João Paulo. O time de Fernando Diniz terminou a primeira etapa com 71% de posse de bola.

Segundo Tempo:
O segundo tempo começou da mesma forma que terminou o primeiro. Mas com a entrada de Lima no lugar de Marlon, o tricolor passou a ter mais poder ofensivo. Aos 11 minutos, Yony González recebeu cruzamento de Arias e cabeceia com perigo. O tricolor seguiu buscando o gol mas com pouco perigo.
Com o domínio da segunda etapa, o tricolor conseguiu chegar ao primeiro gol. Em contra ataque em velocidade puxado por John Arias, o colombiano cruzou para Cano abrir o placar. Com a vantagem no placar, o Fluminense seguiu dominando a partida. Já nos acréscimos, Arias tabela com Ganso na área mas para em João Paulo.

O Fluminense volta à campo na próxima terça-feira(01) quando enfrenta o Argentinos Juniors pela partida de ida das oitavas de final da Libertadores. O duelo está marcado para o estádio Diego Armando Maradona, às 19h.
