Sendo essas três partidas, as últimas quatro que o clube disputou e lembrando que o jogador foi poupado contra o Bahia na terça-feira (16). Ou seja, o atleta participou de suas últimas três partidas inteiras.
Marcelo também atuou durante os 90 minutos nas partidas contra o Colo-Colo pela Libertadores e Bragantino na estreia do Brasileiro. O lateral foi peça importante do time nesses três jogos, principalmente ofensivamente. Acertou uma bola na trave contra a equipe paulista e deu uma assistência contra o Vasco.
O lateral participou de 12 partidas na temporada, sendo nove como titular. Os jogos em que veio do banco foram a volta da final da Recopa contra a LDU, Botafogo na Taça Guanabara e a ida da semifinal do Carioca contra o Flamengo.
