O Fluminense comunicou na tarde de hoje (21), a efetivação do técnico Marcão para o restante da temporada no comando técnico tricolor. O ex-jogador substituirá Roger Machado, cuja demissão foi anunciada na manhã deste sábado. No comunicado oficial, o Flu se baseou nos últimos resultados de Marcão, em sua passagem em 2019. A diretoria efetivou o nome de Marcão com base nos objetivos alcançados pelo treinador em suas recentes passagens no comando do time. Em 2019, ele ajudou a equipe a escapar do rebaixamento e ainda a chegar à Copa Sul-Americana. Em 2020, assumiu após a saída de Odair Hellmann. Não só manteve o bom nível do trabalho anterior como ainda conseguiu melhorar a performance do time, com aproveitamento de 59,5%.
Marcão já comandou o treino deste sábado, e, de acordo com o GE , o novo comandante já estará à beira do campo para comandar a equipe contra o Atlético Mineiro, nesta segunda (23), às 20h, em partida válida pela 18º rodada do Brasileirão, em São Januário.
