A equipe comandada por Abel Braga bateu o Oriente Petrolero-BOL por 3×0 na primeira rodada da fase de grupos e com o empate entre Junior Barranquilla-COL e Unión de Santa Fé-ARG, assumiu de forma isolada, a liderança do grupo H.
