Minas e Fluminense fazem hoje (2) o duelo pelas semifinais da Copa Brasil 2024 às 21h, na Arena Multiuso de São José, em Santa Catarina. As duas equipes protagonizaram a final do Campeonato Brasileiro de 1981 (que anos depois viraria a Superliga) no Maracanãzinho lotado e o Time de Guerreiras, que já era Hexacampeão Sulamericano, conquistou o seu segundo título nacional oficial diante de mais de 13 mil torcedores por 3×1.
Na época, os sets iam até 15 pontos. As parciais foram 15×11, 15×5, 14×16 e 15×10. A equipe tricolor, comandada por Jorge Barros de Araújo, contava com jogadoras históricas como Célia Garritano, Heloísa Roese e Regina Uchôa.
Esse foi o segundo título brasileiro tricolor pela CBV. O Fluminense havia conquistado campeonatos brasileiros sob administração da CBD em 71, 72 e 75, mas apenas os de 76 e 81, sob organização da CBV, são reconhecidos hoje.

A competição foi chamda de Campeonato Brasileiro de 1976 até 1987. Em 1988, passou a se chamar Liga Nacional de Voleibol Feminino e o nome Superliga começou a ser adotado apenas na temporada 1994/1995. A CBV reconhece essas conquistas do clube, apesar de não chamá-las de Superliga. No site da Confederação, o Fluminense aparece como bicampeão brasileiro e como primeiro campeão brasileiro da história em 1976.
