Fluminense tem retrospecto positivo contra argentinos na Libertadores – Relembre os confrontos
O Fluminense enfrenta o River Plate pela 5ª rodada da Libertadores, nesta quarta-feira (7), às 21h30, no Monumental de Nuñez, em Buenos Aires, na Argentina. Esse será o 20º confronto do Tricolor contra uma equipe argentina pela competição. Onde, apresenta uma pequena vantagem com oito vitórias, seis derrotas e cinco empates.
O clube das Laranjeiras disputa pela 9ª vez o torneio, já tendo participado das edições de 1971, 1985, 2008, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2021 e 2022. As únicas vezes que não jogou contra um argentino foi na primeira participação, na última e em 2013. Em mata-mata os confrontos aconteceram apenas duas vezes e ambas contra o Boca Juniors. Em 2008, derrotaram os Xeneizes e passaram para a final e em 2012, ficaram pelo caminho nas quartas.
1985

Atual campeão Brasileiro, o Tricolor foi para a disputa da Libertadores com grandes ídolos como Assis, Washington e Romerito. Porém, acabaram caindo no grupo de dois argentinos e não fizeram uma boa competição. Foram derrotados nos dois confrontos contra o Argentino Juniors, que seria o campeão. E nos duelos com o Ferro Carril Oeste perderam um e empataram outro.
2008
O Fluminense voltava a disputar uma Liberadores depois de 23 anos e caiu no grupo do Arsenal de Sarandí. O Tricolor venceu em casa e perdeu fora, porém a vitória acabou se tornando um dos jogos mais marcantes do time na competição. Com um golaço de bate pronto de fora da área do Dodô, o Fluminense venceu por 6 a 0 e é até hoje a maior goleada do clube no torneio.
Nas semifinal se deparam com o timaço do Boca Juniors, que tinha craques como Riquelme, Palermo e Palácio. Empataram o primeiro jogo na Bombonera, no Maracanã venceram de virada por 3 a 1 e foram para a final.
2011
Após ser campeão brasileiro, o Fluminense voltou para a Libertadores e caiu no grupo do primeiro adversário Argentino que enfrentou na história da competição, o Argentino Juniors. Neste ano mais uma vez um jogo da Libertadores iria entrar para a história do clube. O Tricolor chegou na última rodada precisando vencer na Argentina para se classificar e como o outro confronto da chave terminou empatado, precisava ser por dois ou mais gols de diferença. E, com um gol de pênalti do Fred aos 43 do 2º tempo, o Time de Guerreiros foi mais uma vez as oitavas ao ganhar por 4 a 2 o jogo.
2012
Neste ano, o Fluminense caiu no grupo com dois argentinos. Um deles foi o Arsenal de Sarandí que foi derrotados duas vezes. E o Boca Juniors, que enfrentaram quatro vezes em jogos muito distintos. O primeiro foi uma vitória histórica na bombonera, sendo até hoje um dos seis brasileiros que já fizeram esse feito. O outro foi uma derrota em casa com direito a pênalti perdido. Porém, está foi a única derrota do Tricolor na fase de grupos e passou em primeiro. Os dois se reencontraram nas quartas e o confronto estava indo para os pênaltis até os 45 do 2º tempo, quando Santiago Silva fez o gol que classificou os Xeneizes, no Engenhão.
2021
O Tricolor caiu no grupo do adversário desta quarta-feira. Em um Maracanã sem público por causa da pandemia, o clube das Laranjeiras estreou na competição com um empate. Na última rodada foi ao Monumental, onde precisava ganhar para não depender do outro jogo da chave. Venceu por 3 a 1 e garantiu a liderança do grupo.
2023
O Fluminense derrotou o River Plate por 5 a 1 no Maracanã pela 3ª rodada da atual edição e se tornou o primeiro time a fazer cinco gols sobre eles na Libertadores. O jogo contou com hat-trick de Cano e dois gols do Árias.
