Fluminense reverte derrota na ida, faz 3 a 0 no Criciúma e avança às quartas da Copa do Brasil
No Maracanã, o Fluminense fez 3 a 0 no Criciúma e é o primeiro time classificado para as quartas de final da Copa do Brasil. Após perder o primeiro jogo por 2 a 1, o Tricolor conseguiu reverter o placar e garantir a vaga para a próxima fase. Manoel, Gabriel Teixeira e Luiz Henrique marcaram os gols do Flu.
Além da classificação, o Fluminense receberá R$ 3,45 milhões de premiação.

Os primeiros momentos do jogo no Maracanã deram a impressão de que o Fluminense pressionaria o time visitante em busca do placar necessário, dois gols, ainda no primeiro tempo. Isso porque logo aos quatro minutos, Egídio colocou a bola na cabeça de Manoel, que abriu o placar para o Tricolor.

No entanto, depois do gol marcado ainda antes de cinco minutos completados no relógio, o Fluminense não se impôs e viu o primeiro chegar ao fim sem que conseguisse construir novas oportunidades reais de gol. Tanto que a finalização mais perigosa do Flu após o gol aconteceria somente aos 33 minutos, em um bate-rebate dentro da pequena área depois da cobrança de escanteio pela esquerda. A bola sobrou para Yago Felipe, mas o camisa 20 não conseguiu finalizar com força e a bola ficou com o goleiro Gustavo.
E se o Fluminense pouco construía no primeiro tempo, o Criciúma não fazia diferente. Apesar de se defender bem, o time comandado por Paulo Baier também pouco foi efetivo em suas tentativas ofensivas e pouco deu trabalho a Marcos Felipe.
Apesar da atuação morna no primeiro tempo, Roger Machado não promoveu alterações no intervalo. O pedido do treinador foi para que a equipe trocasse passes com mais velocidade e que as jogadas fossem construídas a partir dos volantes, não dos zagueiros. E assim como no primeiro tempo, o Fluminense encontrou o caminho do gol logo nos primeiros minutos. Aos sete, Egídio antecipou a saída errada da defesa do Criciúma e achou Luiz Henrique dentro da área. De costas para o gol, o camisa 34 só rolou para Gabriel Teixeira finalizar de perna esquerda e ampliar o placar.

Mas ao contrário dos momentos pós-primeiro gol, o Fluminense manteve a intensidade e colocou em prática um dos pedidos de Roger Machado para o segundo tempo: acelerar a troca de passes. Dois minutos depois do segundo gol, Gabriel Teixeira recuperou a bola no meio de campo e rapidamente fez a ligação com Fred. O camisa 9, que até então pouco havia participado do jogo, esperou a ultrapassagem de Luiz Henrique, que recebeu do capitão tricolor e finalizou de perna direita entre o goleiro e trave. Três a zero.

O Fluminense nesse momento controlava a jogo e pouco sofria com as investidas do Criciúma. A primeira boa chance dos visitantes aconteceu aos 19 minutos, quando Maranhão, ex-Flu, finalizou de fora da área e obrigou Marcos Felipe a fazer grande defesa.
Com três a zero no placar, Roger Machado promoveu todas as cinco substituições em um intervalo de 10 minutos. Aos 27, Fred e Gabriel Teixeira deram lugar a Abel Hernández e Kayky. Aos 30, Lucca e Ganso entraram nas vagas de Luiz Henrique e Nenê. E aos 37, Yago Felipe deu lugar a André.
Aos 39 minutos, a melhor chance do Criciúma do jogo. Em cruzamento vindo da direita, Marcos Felipe afastou mal e a bola pôde ser alçada na área mais uma vez. Na segunda tentativa, PH recebeu, livre, quase dentro da pequena área e finalizou por cima do travessão. Dois minutos depois da chance perdida, o árbitro expulsou Manoel, zagueiro tricolor e autor do primeiro gol da partida, sob a justificativa de que o jogador chutou a bola após o apito de uma falta, o que, para a arbitragem, foi o suficiente para a aplicação do segundo cartão amarelo.
Apesar de ter um a menos em campo nos minutos finais, o Fluminense conseguiu controlar o ritmo da partida e não sofrer pressão do adversário para garantir a classificação às quartas de final da Copa do Brasil.
