O ano era 2005. Flamengo e Fluminense decidiam a Taça Rio. Quem ganhasse, faria a final do Carioca contra o Volta Redonda, campeão da Taça Guanabara. O jogo foi bem pegado no primeiro tempo. Mas no segundo, o Flu passeou e chegou a abrir 4-0 no rival. Zinho, que fez seu ultimo jogo como profissional naquela tarde, descontou para os rubro-negros.
O gol mais bonito da partida foi de Preto Casagrande. O meio-campo voltava de lesão e estava no banco. Entrou para fazer um golaço de cobertura e selar a goleada tricolor. Quinze anos depois, o Globoesporte.com falou com o jogador, que lembrou do momento:

Eles estavam jogando mais e eu estava no banco p* da cara, chateado com o Abel. Mas aí ele acabou me colocando no jogo, e logo que entrei fiz aquele golaço.

O que você lembra daquela goleada por 4 a 1 sobre o Flamengo?
– Faz tempo, hein?! Estou ficando velho mesmo (risos). Eu lembro que estava voltando de lesão, machuquei no segundo ou terceiro jogo da Taça Rio, tive uma lesão muscular, e eu estava bem emburrado no banco, p* com Abel que tinha me tirado do time (risos). Na época, eu peguei Diego Souza e Arouca subindo, tinha o Radamés, que era um menino muito bom da base…
– O Fluminense sempre teve uma base muito boa. E esses meninos estavam voando, principalmente o Diego, que na época jogava de volante, mais um pouco para trás. E o próprio Arouquinha. Eles estavam jogando mais e eu estava no banco p* da cara, chateado com o Abel, mas aí ele acabou me colocando no jogo. Logo que eu entrei eu fiz aquele golaço. Uma das coisas que eu lembro é justamente isso.
– A outra coisa é que meu filho estava no Maraca, ele tinha três anos de idade. Estava o estádio lotado, né? Eu estava todo feliz, alegre que tinha feito o gol. Disse a mãe dele que ele passou o jogo inteiro pedindo para ir embora, que estava agoniado (risos). Eu achando que estava se amarrando em ver o pai fazendo gol e ele estava desesperado para ir embora. E hoje ele é torcedor do Fluminense que eu fico “indignado” como é que pode ser tão torcedor do Flu. Ele é muito.
Filho não quis ser jogador também?
– Ele teve vontade, sim. Ele ficou um período na Jacuipense, aqui em Salvador, que investe muito na base, de uns amigos meus empresários. E em determinado momento ele foi para os Estados Unidos tentar a sorte lá. Ele chegou a jogar em Los Angeles pelos times do high school na esperança de conseguir alguma bolsa universitária. Mas acabou que, não sei se por conta de namorada ou o que foi, ele decidiu voltar e já está trabalhando comigo nos meus negócios.
Naquele ano de 2005 você conquistou o último título da sua vitoriosa carreira. O que representou aquela final do Carioca contra o Volta Redonda?
– Sem dúvida, foi uma alegria enorme, principalmente da maneira como foi. Um golzinho no finalzinho do Antônio Carlos. Eu lembro que eu fiz um gol de falta na primeira final, também no Maraca… E esse jogo aí a gente já estava desesperado, triste que talvez não fosse ganhar, e o Antônio Carlos fez no finalzinho. Até em função disso, foi comemorado mais ainda. Mas eu lembro que foi muito difícil, muito complicado.
Se comparar aquele time com os outros em que jogou na carreira, em qual posição estaria no seu ranking dos melhores?
Faltou a conquista da Copa do Brasil para coroar aquele ano. Ainda dói aquela final contra o Paulista?
– Essa é a maior derrota da minha vida profissionalmente, que mais me dói. Porque é um título muito expressivo. Para mim, faltaram Copa do Brasil e Libertadores. Ganhei vários estaduais, fui campeão brasileiro… Principalmente pelo fato do Fluminense ser favorito. A gente perder aquela final foi um absurdo. Acho que o Abel meio que subestimou o primeiro jogo em Jundiaí. Foi querer botar um time muito jovem, e a gente acabou sendo surpreendido.
– Acho que foi a que eu mais chorei na minha vida, que eu mais demorei para digerir ao longo da minha carreira. A gente imaginava que aquele título ia dar um alívio muito grande, até para disputar o Brasileiro. E o time estava muito bom, o ambiente muito saudável, a Unimed na época ajudava, jogadores experientes… Falei: “Meu Deus, não tem como perder esse título”.
Você ainda acompanha o Fluminense? O que acha do time atual?
– É a única coisa que eu acompanho hoje no futebol é o Fluminense. Meu filho é vidrado, ele discute no Instagram com torcedor, ele manda mensagem para jogador. Eu dou risada dele. Mas ele é muito ligado. Então todos os jogos do Fluminense impreterivelmente a gente assiste juntos.
– Este ano eu estou surpreso. Acho que o (Mário) Bittencourt (presidente) fez um time muito além do que a gente esperava. A gente sabia da dificuldade financeira, dessa pressão do Flamengo. Acho que, dos times do Rio, é o que consegue destoar um pouco, porque o Flamengo está muito acima, e o Fluminense conseguiu fazer um time bastante competitivo. Surpreendeu pela possibilidade financeira que se tinha… Eu estou bem otimista para o Brasileiro.
Quais jogadores você mais gosta do elenco atual?
– Eu gosto da molecada. Marcos Paulo acho bom demais, acho ele acima da média. E eu gosto dele jogando centralizado: ou como 9 ou como 10. Evanilson, se continuar dando oportunidade, tem tudo para ser o artilheiro da temporada. É um cara que dá muita movimentação, protege bem a bola. Se ganhar confiança, vai ser um baita artilheiro este ano.
E a quarentena devido ao coronavírus, como tem sido?
– Eu moro em Salvador, entre idas e vindas, há 22 anos. Meus dois filhos são baianos (Rafael, que faz 18 anos agora dia 29, e a Camila, que tem 12 anos). Eu tenho cinco postos de combustível com cinco lojas, então eu tenho aproximadamente 100 funcionários. Não está fácil. Eu dei férias para 25, que eu consegui conversando, alguns até pediram para ficar mais próximos dos filhos. Chegando em um bom senso, eu conseguir dar férias para 25, até porque minhas vendas caíram 70%. Hoje é dia de pagar folha, tem que fazer malabarismo. Graças a Deus até agora não demiti ninguém.
– Eu também sou pai divorciado da mãe dos meus filhos, então nesses 14 dias de quarentena eu consegui vê-los três dias só, porque a gente está evitando. E eu tenho trabalho uma vez por semana. Agora, por exemplo, eu estou aqui no escritório. Não tenho contato com ninguém, eu entro direto, tomo as decisões que tenho que tomar, analiso relatórios e vou para minha casa. Nesses 15 dias que eu estou em quarentena, eu saí só duas vezes para vir ao escritório, o resto eu tenho ficado em casa.
E a carreira de técnico?
– Gostei para caramba, mas foi um baque tão grande, uma traição tão grande que eu achei por parte do presidente da época (Marcelo Sant’Ana) que tomei uma aversão a voltar para o meio. Traumatizei, acho que a palavra é essa. Foi traumatizante. Fiquei dois anos de auxiliar, um mês como interino, aí eles falaram: “Vamos efetivar, tem condições, está muito preparado”. Aí um mês depois me demitiram.
Não pretende tentar de novo?
– Eu gosto muito de futebol. Eu falo com as pessoas: eu discuto muito mais com pessoa do Brasil e do mundo sobre futebol do que sobre combustível, que é a minha área hoje, que eu também faço há 20 anos. Eu acho que tenho muita competência, muita propriedade para falar sobre futebol. E a paixão que o Rafa (filho) tem por futebol também me faz criar uma expectativa de talvez a médio, longo prazo voltar ao futebol…
Sua inspiração para tentar ser técnico é o seu primo Caio Júnior?
– Primo-irmão. O Caio sempre me inspirou como homem, porque nós tivemos uma história de vida muito parecida. Ele saiu do interior do Paraná, de Cascavel, a mãe dele faleceu há 15 dias, irmã do meu pai. Ele saiu de Cascavel muito cedo para ir para Porto Alegre para ser jogador do Grêmio. Aí teve uma carreira boa em Portugal, enfim, ele tem uma história de vida muito bonita como homem. Ele sempre foi referência para mim, ele era tipo um espelho. E eu fui pelo mesmo caminho.
– Fui para o Rio jogar no Vasco com 15 anos, ele saiu (de casa) com 14. Nossa história de vida sempre foi muito parecida. Quando ele foi treinador, treinou o Bahia e o Vitória, então me reaproximei dele, de frequentar minha casa, de estar com os filhos dele, com a esposa. Ele sempre foi referência para mim. E depois dessa passagem pelo Vitória e pelo Bahia foi mais ainda. Sem dúvida nenhuma que a vontade de ser treinador passa também pela experiência que eu vi nele.
E agente de jogador, já pensou em ser?
– Como agente, não sei ainda. Primeiro eu estou dando uma estabilizada na minha vida como empresário, para depois talvez partir para alguma coisa no futebol de novo.
