Antes auxiliar, agora Aílton Ferraz terá a missão de comandar o elenco tricolor e desenvolver ainda mais os jogadores que não vem tendo oportunidades com Roger Machado. Em contato com a nossa reportagem, o comandante falou da expectativa para a competição e da importância na maturação de jovens atletas.
“O Sub-23 é um processo muito importante de maturação desses jovens. O Brasileiro de Aspirantes é um campeonato muito difícil. No ano passado a gente chegou até a semifinal, serviu muito de experiência, mas esse ano vamos batalhar para conseguir o título. O Fluminense é um time gigante, que sempre briga por título. O processo do sub-23 já deu grandes resultados, porque hoje você vê o Martinelli como titular do time profissional, o Samuel, que foi pro Vitória, John Kennedy, que é altamente promissor. O próprio Gabriel Teixeira, que passou um período, jogou bastante no sub-23. O clube ganha muito fazendo esse trabalho perto do profissional.”

“No ano passado eu fui auxiliar do Marcão, ajudamos naquilo que era preciso. Esse ano, sendo treinador principal, estou dando sequência àquilo que a gente plantou lá atrás, mas sem dúvidas com algumas coisas novas para trabalhar. Esse ano nós temos um time altamente técnico que estamos conciliando com esse espírito guerreiro, que é do Fluminense.
Hoje, o time principal do Flu tem jogadores muito pedidos pela torcida, tais como André e John Kennedy. O primeiro quase foi emprestado para ganhar bagagem mas permaneceu. O segundo, após ter a covid-19, está em fase final de transição física. Perguntado sobre a chance desses atletas servirem ao Sub-23 para não perderem o ritmo de jogo e estarem preparados para um jogo de um calibre mais forte com Roger Machado, Aílton afirma que há possibilidade.
“Se a gente tiver a oportunidade de usar jogadores que estão em cima, como por exemplo o John Kennedy, o André, e o Roger enxergar que é necessário, a gente pode colocar no time sub-23. Assim, a gente ganha em experiência, por serem jogadores que já estão jogando em cima, mas também na qualidade. Mas o maior trabalho nosso é colocar os jogadores lá em cima.”
A principal função do Sub-23 é desenvolver os atletas para chegarem muito mais prontos e maduros para o time principal. Hoje, a equipe conta com dois laterais esquerdos, posição mais carente da equipe de Roger Machado, que tem muito prestígio do torcedor: Jefté e Mascarenhas. O primeiro foi um dos destaques do Brasileirão Sub-17 em 2020 e o segundo retornou agora de empréstimo do Vitória de Guimarães após não conseguir atuar por conta das lesões. Aílton falou sobre ambos.
“Hoje o Jefté é o titular da posição. É um jovem que a gente está trabalhando com bastante cautela para que quando subir, fique sempre lá em cima, então temos que tomar todo cuidado. É promissor demais, um jogador com velocidade, tem resistência boa, cruza bem, mas é jovem e estamos nesse processo. O Mascarenhas está com a gente e vem treinando bem também.”
Esse ano, o Fluminense trouxe quatro caras novas para o Sub-23. O volante Léo Souza, que veio do Atibaia-SP; Rafael Ribeiro, zagueiro, do Náutico; o volante/zagueiro Wiris, que estava na Bulgária; e o meia Gustavo Apis, do Nova Iguaçu. Além deles, ano passado, o meia Wagninho, também do Náutico, permanece no elenco. Aílton explicou as características desses jogadores.
“São atletas de qualidade que incorporaram ao sub-23 nesse ano. O Léo é um jogador que cresceu muito nos treinamentos, um volante-meia, que faz extremo também, assim como o Gustavo é um meia que faz extremo também, um jogador canhoto, que tem agradado muito. O zagueiro Rafael Ribeiro cresceu muito de um tempo pra cá, e o Wiris é um volante/zagueiro que tem me ajudado muito, como zagueiro também, altamente profissional, estava há muito tempo na Europa e tenho certeza que vai ajudar muito o grupo. O Wagner é um atleta com “sangue nos olhos” como a gente costuma dizer no futebol. É outro atleta que também pegou mais confiança. A intenção do sub-23 é preparar o atleta para o profissional e, se Deus quiser, o desejo é fazer como que todos os atletas do nosso projeto se encaixem no profissional.”
Por último, Aílton comentou a responsabilidade de não só comandar a molecada, mas de ser uma pessoa importante no processo de desenvolvimento desses jogadores para que, no futuro próximo, estejam prontos para ajudar o clube.
“A responsabilidade é muito grande. Ser treinador do Fluminense em qualquer categoria tem responsabilidade gigante e eu sei das minhas. Tenho certeza que a gente vai evoluir muito esses atletas, foi assim no ano passado, e nesse ano nós vamos ter muito sucesso.
